Geremy Segars

After graduating from Athens State University with a B.S. in accounting in 1999, Geremy has been in accounting ever since and began building his own practice in 2002. His areas of expertise include individual, farm, and corporate income tax planning and preparation, small business write-up and payroll services. Geremy is involved in various professional societies such as the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants along with the Alabama Society of Certified Public Accountants.

Ronnie Burlison

Ronnie respectively has over twenty successful years of governmental and general accounting experience, and currently serves as a Certified Public Accountant, Certified Internal Auditor, and Certified Government Finance Officer. He currently serves as an active member of East Highland Baptist Church in Hartselle, Al.


Steven H. Emerson

Completing thirteen tax seasons, Steven also has more than ten years of public accounting experience and has performed over 250 audit engagements while also performing over 100 single audit engagements. He has also volunteers his time to the Government Finance Officers Association reviewing CAFR (Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting) reports, Budgets (Distinguished Budget Presentation Awards Programs) and PAFR (Popular Annual Financial Reporting Awards Program) reports. Steve also holds a Bachelor of Science in Management and Accounting from the University of North Alabama.

Cathy J. Elder

Cathy has a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Auburn University. She has
had over 25 years of experience in bookkeeping/accounting. She spent 20 years
at Camp ASCCA (Alabama’s Special Camp for Children & Adults), where she was
responsible for all bookkeeping/accounting functions for the non-profit. The day
after her last day, she moved to Dunn, North Carolina, where she did volunteer
work in The Church of God of NC headquarters for 2 years. After returning home
to Alabama, she accepted a part-time job at a local CPA firm. In November 2016,
she relocated to Hartselle from Alexander City to be near her family. She and
Choca, her Chihuahua, are happy in their new location. She loves bookkeeping
and accounting and is proud to be a part of Segars & Co., P.C.

Liz Tidwell

Liz joined Segars & Co., P.C. in January of 2015 as a front desk receptionist and bookkeeper. She has over 20 years of experience in the Banking/Finance sector, and has lived in the Hartselle area for 23 years though she now resides in Priceville with her family. Liz enjoys her work and is proud to be a part of Segars & Co., P.C.

Michael Palmer

Michael joined Segars and Co. in January of 2018, where he prepares personal and corporate tax returns, assists with the completion of audits, and is involved in bookkeeping functions. He received his Master’s degree in Accounting from UAH while working in the banking industry and plans to obtain his CPA license in the near future. Before starting his career in accounting, he taught high school Math and was a baseball coach in Somerville, TN and Arab, AL having earned a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and Master’s degree in Secondary Education from Freed-Hardeman University in Tennessee. He was born in Mississippi, went to college in Tennessee, and now lives in Alabama with his wife, Stacy, and two children, Seth and Maddox.
